Mr Ayaz Lakdawala is an experienced Consultant
Orthopaedic surgeon who has a special interest and expertise in knee and sports
surgery, lower limb arthroplasty (knee and hip replacements) and complex
fractures. He uses computer navigation (Ortho-pilot ™) for improved surgical
accuracy during knee replacements. He performs knee ligament reconstructions
including ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction, arthroscopic knee
procedures and offers treatment of knee meniscal tears and cartilage injuries.
He spent 18 months in research on knee surgery
at Royal London Hospital and Holly House Hospital. He was selected for higher
specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the West-Midlands where he
trained at the internationally known hospitals - Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and
Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Following that, he was selected to the post of Senior
Clinical Fellow at world renowned knee fellowship centres at King’s College
Hospital, London and Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit at Royal Devon and Exeter
Hospital NHS Trust.
He is actively involved in teaching and
training, has published in international journals and presented papers at
international conferences and meetings. He is also an examiner for the Warwick
Medical School and trainer for junior doctors and senior registrars.
He was appointed as the Regional Director for
Royal College of Surgeon of England (RCSE) and chairs the professional affairs
board. His work with the RCSE is about improving surgical standards, patient
care and improving surgical training.
He enjoys cricket, football, reading about
history and extremely interested in new and emerging technology.
